Walkalarm is the armodafinil brand of Ryon Pharma, an Indian generics manufacturer. The carton and the blister each declare 150 mg of armodafinil per tablet, alongside the brand name, the manufacturer, the batch number and the expiry date. What armodafinil does in the body, who it is for and in what amount are points to settle with the package leaflet and a doctor or pharmacist.

One of five 150 mg brands

Walkalarm is one of five brands in our armodafinil selection whose packaging states 150 mg. The others are Waklert, made by Sun Pharma; Vigilant, made by Taj Pharmaceuticals; Artvigil, made by HAB Pharmaceuticals; and Armovigil, made by NATCO Pharma. What genuinely differs is who makes each one, the pack sizes and what a tablet costs, and we line them up on exactly those three things:

Walkalarm’s row is highlighted; the list starts from the lowest price per tablet, whoever holds it that day. Rankings by supposed feel sell a distinction the labels do not support, often in favour of the pricier box. Some cartons in the range say 50 mg, but we never recalculate prices per milligram: that would amount to a statement about dose.

Ryon Pharma and the pack itself

Ryon Pharma prints its name and address, the manufacturing licence number, the batch number, the manufacturing date and the expiry date on the carton at the point of production. We add nothing to the pack and take nothing away.

The molecule in one paragraph

Modafinil is chiral: it exists in two mirror-image forms, R and S, and modafinil as sold contains them in equal proportions; armodafinil, the R-enantiomer, is the R form alone, separated out. Prescription and use

Armodafinil is a prescription-only medicine in most EU member states and is scheduled as a controlled substance in many countries. Each country regulates buying, holding and importing armodafinil in its own way and amends the rules periodically, so check the position at your delivery address beforehand; the seven-country legal guide is one place to start. We do not ask for prescriptions or write them, which alters none of this; checking where you stand is up to you. Side effects and safety

Commonly reported: the package leaflet lists headache, nausea, dry mouth, reduced appetite, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, anxiety and nervousness.

Serious skin, allergic, psychiatric or cardiac reactions: stop taking armodafinil immediately and seek urgent medical help if you notice a skin rash, blistering, ulceration of the mouth or eyes, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, fever, chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, hallucinations, agitation, depression or thoughts of self-harm. A rash can be the first sign of a serious reaction, so do not wait and see. This list is not complete: the leaflet inside the carton gives the full list and, where the two differ, the leaflet takes precedence.

Contraindications: do not take armodafinil if you have a known hypersensitivity to modafinil or armodafinil.

Medical advice is essential before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, impaired liver or kidney function or a history of psychiatric illness. The same applies if you take any other medicines, as interactions are possible: speak to a doctor or pharmacist first. Do not combine or alternate medicines without professional advice.

Hormonal contraception: armodafinil reduces the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives, including pills, patches, rings, implants and hormonal coils. If you rely on one of these, arrange additional or alternative contraception with a doctor or pharmacist before use, and review it with them when you stop taking armodafinil.

Leaflet and storage: read the package leaflet before anything else. Whether armodafinil is suitable for you is for a doctor or pharmacist to decide, with the leaflet and your medical history in front of them. Store the tablets in their original pack at normal room temperature, in a dry place away from direct light, and out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use them after the expiry date printed on the carton and the blister.
