Wakafinil 50 mg: an uncoated tablet from Pacific India

Unlike many tablets, Wakafinil 50 mg has no film coating. Its maker, Pacific India, is an Indian generics manufacturer working to the Indian Pharmacopoeia (IP). The carton and foil declare 50 mg of armodafinil per tablet, alongside the brand name, manufacturer, batch number and expiry date. That figure, lower than on the 150 mg brands, is what the box states, not a recommendation; whether the medicine is appropriate for you, and in what amount, is for your doctor or pharmacist to judge, with the package leaflet.

Opening the carton: a checklist

Pacific India’s sealed pack reaches you just as it left the production line. Check for:

• an unopened carton, seal intact, with complete foil strips inside;
• ‘Wakafinil’ and 50 mg on both box and foil;
• the maker’s name, address and manufacturing licence number, printed at the plant;
• the batch number and the dates of manufacture and expiry, unaltered since production;
• the patient information leaflet, which you should read first.

Nothing that cannot travel whole and sealed is sent: we do no repacking or relabelling, and we never divide a strip to reach a tablet count.

How incoming stock is checked

When a batch arrives at our EU warehouse, samples go to an independent laboratory, and the batch is listed only after that analysis; cartons stay sealed until packing. The downloadable Certificate of Analysis confirms which active substance is present and that a tablet contains the amount stated on the label. It covers the substance, not a batch, so yours has no certificate of its own; the batch number on your box identifies the pack you received. The report is a record of contents, not of anyone’s experience.

Wakafinil and the other armodafinil brands

Pack sizes and what they cost

The cost per tablet falls as packs get larger. Set against a 150 mg brand, that figure compares prices, not like with like. We never work out a cost per milligram, as it would imply that one strength can replace another. How to take it. You will find no amounts, timings, methods of taking, schedules, combinations or cycles here, and our support staff will not supply them, even on request. We keep no medical records and assess no one: individual use is a matter for a doctor or pharmacist, based on your medical history, your other medicines and the leaflet.

That it is legal where you live. Being a shop and not a pharmacy, we neither request nor issue prescriptions. That does not change the product’s status: armodafinil is a prescription-only medicine in most of the European Union and a controlled substance in many countries. Side effects and safety

Commonly reported: the package leaflet lists headache, nausea, dry mouth, reduced appetite, difficulty sleeping, dizziness, anxiety and nervousness.

Serious skin, allergic, psychiatric or cardiac reactions: stop taking armodafinil immediately and seek urgent medical help if you notice a skin rash, blistering, ulceration of the mouth or eyes, swelling of the face or throat, difficulty breathing, fever, chest pain, an irregular heartbeat, hallucinations, agitation, depression or thoughts of self-harm. A rash can be the first sign of a serious reaction, so do not wait and see. This list is not complete: the leaflet inside the carton gives the full list and, where the two differ, the leaflet takes precedence.

Contraindications: do not take armodafinil if you have a known hypersensitivity to modafinil or armodafinil.

Medical advice is essential before use if you are pregnant or breastfeeding, or if you have a heart condition, high blood pressure, impaired liver or kidney function or a history of psychiatric illness. The same applies if you take any other medicines, as interactions are possible: speak to a doctor or pharmacist first. Do not combine or alternate medicines without professional advice.

Hormonal contraception: armodafinil reduces the effectiveness of hormonal contraceptives, including pills, patches, rings, implants and hormonal coils. If you rely on one of these, arrange additional or alternative contraception with a doctor or pharmacist before use, and review it with them when you stop taking armodafinil.

Leaflet and storage: read the package leaflet before anything else. Whether armodafinil is suitable for you is for a doctor or pharmacist to decide, with the leaflet and your medical history in front of them. Store the tablets in their original pack at normal room temperature, in a dry place away from direct light, and out of the sight and reach of children. Do not use them after the expiry date printed on the carton and the blister.

What does ‘IP’ stand for?

Indian Pharmacopoeia, the official reference that sets requirements for a medicine’s identity, content and purity. It names the standard to which Pacific India makes Wakafinil, nothing more.

How do I check my pack against the certificate?

Find the batch number on the carton and confirm that the name and the 50 mg figure match your order. If anything does not match, do not use the pack; write to us first.
